Manchester City 3–0 Liverpool Haaland 65’, Doku 68’, Cherki 78’ Manchester City produced a ruthless second-half performance to defeat Liverpool 3–0 at Anfield and preserve their perfect start to the Premier League season. Erling Haaland, Jérémy Doku and Rayan Cherki found the net as City turned a tense contest into a convincing victory. The result moved City to the top of the table with 18 points from six matches.

Liverpool make the stronger start

Anfield was filled with noise from the opening whistle, and Liverpool began with the greater urgency. City were forced to defend for long periods during the first half, while Gianluigi Donnarumma had to remain alert as the hosts looked for a breakthrough.
City gradually settled into the contest. Their defence stayed disciplined, and their midfield began to find more space in possession. Neither side could break the deadlock before half-time, but the balance of the match changed dramatically after the interval.
Liverpool were reduced to ten men in the 62nd minute when Ryan Gravenberch received a second yellow card for a late challenge on Doku. City immediately increased the pressure and made their numerical advantage count.
Three minutes later, Haaland opened the scoring. Doku created danger inside the penalty area, and after his effort was blocked, the Norwegian striker reacted quickly to fire a powerful left-footed shot beyond Alisson Becker.
The goal gave City control, and Liverpool struggled to recover.
